Welcome to A1 Songs

My name is Alan Falkingham, composer and musician, and creator of music for TV Radio and Film. Originally from Yorkshire I am now settled in beautiful Somerset.

Music has been my passion for many years. I started playing guitar at the age of 9 and have never stopped. I picked up keyboard skills during my musical journey which has taken me from teenage rock and soul bands on to radio and TV appearances, to musical theatre, and through to playing in night club and jazz bands - all the while listening to, and learning from, a wide range of musical genres. And I'm still doing a lot of listening and learning!

A1 Songs was created as an outlet for my passion for songwriting and composition. Here you will find music in many styles and genres. I hope you enjoy what you find.

I also use the A1Songs brand to promote bands in which I play. I also help other artistes. I'm especially interested in village hall communities around Somerset and Devon. Since the general demise of pubs as musical venues I firmly believe the much loved village and community halls across the UK are ideal places to re-kindle live music for the masses.

ALI AND THE SWING CATS

ALI AND THE SWING CATS is band of professional musicians focused on playing their own interpretations of tunes from "The Great American Songbook" - 'standards' by Gershwin, Cole Porter, Irving Berlin etc.

Mainly Swing Jazz, some Gypsy - and the occasional Bossa Nova!

This band is perfect for an evening's high class entertainment with excellent music plus the stories that surround some of the songs and their composers.
